Biography

Dr. Michaela Giglio is an Advocate within the LexPractis team, having joined the firm in 2022 and obtained her warrant to practise in 2023. She graduated from the University of Malta in 2021 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree and subsequently obtained a Master of Advocacy degree in 2022.

During her studies, Michaela authored a dissertation on the international maritime law topic “Enforcement Jurisdiction on the High Seas”, which was recognised for its academic merit and continues to serve as a reference point for students and academics researching maritime jurisdiction and public international law. Alongside her academic pursuits, Michaela formed part of the Council of the University of Malta, where she represented the interests of students and contributed to discussions and decisions concerning the administration and governance of the University. She also served as an Ambassador for the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO), assisting and guiding students interested in pursuing career opportunities within various European Union institutions.

Since joining the firm, Michaela has worked alongside her colleagues on a number of high-profile cases and has represented clients in complex and sensitive proceedings. She advises clients across a broad spectrum of legal matters, with particular expertise in criminal litigation, civil litigation, constitutional, and human rights litigation, as well as dispute resolution and commercial advisory work. Michaela regularly assists clients in contentious proceedings before the Maltese Courts and Tribunals, while also providing strategic legal guidance on contractual, regulatory, and commercial matters.
